Introduction

As part of a Gamagora Master’s 2 course titled “Interface”, we were tasked with developing a VR game proof of concept (POC), over a three-week period working on it only a few hours a week. Based on this premise, three of my friends and I decided to create a game inspired by Overcooked but with a twist, in which we had to “hunt for food”. As this was a proof of concept and our first VR game on Unreal, the mechanics are very basic and the objective is simply to make a burger.

Results

We therefore produced a proof of concept for a VR game using Unreal.

As this was a university project, the game is far from complete, but it allowed me to get back into VR development, this time using the Unreal Engine.

Here is a demo video showing what we managed to achieve in this short project

The Chaos Kitchen project allowed me to take my first steps into VR game development with Unreal. I really enjoyed reusing a technology I was already familiar with in an engine I was getting to know. I’d really like to resume development of Chaos Kitchen in the future as I think the idea has potential
